'Site under maintenance' appears on checkout page

I have been trying all day to upgrade my phone on a standard upgrade as my contract expired last week, and everytime I get to the checkout page a "site under maintenance" message appears.
I have tried this on Google Chrome, Edge and through the app on my existing phone and the same thing happens every time.
Has anyone else had this problem and do you know how to fix it?

Good morning,
This still appears to be an ongoing problem on the website and the app. Have tried at least 8 or 9 times in the last 24 hours with no joy at all - its almost like EE doesn't want my money?!
Can you please advise as to exactly how long this service is going to be down? I work long hours and don't have time to sit on the phone or go into a local shop.

No the message appears as soon as you click Confirm Payment as with all the other cases.
I have tried various browsers on my phone and through a desktop computer as well
