SIM not working in new iPhone 12 mini

Hi - I just upgraded from a 1st generation iPhone SE to an iPhone 12 mini and my SIM card cannot find a signal. Everything else works, i.e. internet FaceTime and iMessages etc but I can't make or receive regular phone calls or texts. Can anyone help?

Hi @Fran27.

Welcome to the community.

Does your SIM card still work in the other phone?

Is it in the new phone the correct way?

Can you try cleaning the SIM?

Jon

Hi Jon,

Thanks for your reply...

Yes the SIM still works in my old phone and I'm sure the SIM was installed correctly in my new phone as when I remove it, it gives me a message saying there in no SIM - so it seems to recognise that a SIM has been inserted, I just can't get a network signal from it? The SIM also seems to be clean.

Any more ideas? 🙂

Thanks,

Fran

Did you upgrade directly with EE, @Fran27?

Could you try resetting the network settings?

Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings > Follow the prompts.

Could you also try looking for any carrier updates?

Tap Settings > General > About. If there's an update, it'll pop up there.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Yes I upgraded directly with EE and I have tried both those things you have suggested (there were no updates available but I reset the network settings) and it's still not working.

Thanks,

Fran

Thanks for trying @Fran27

As your SIM works fine in another phone and you have followed the advice provided I would now recommend getting in touch with our technical care team who can complete further diagnostics.

Hi there

Sorry to bother you but I have exactly the same issue.

Did you manage to get a resolution and can you tell me what it was?

Thanks

Hi @nickahmed,

Welcome back to the EE Community. 🙂

Is your new phone an upgrade? Have you switched your SIM from your old phone to your new one?

James

Yes, switched from iPhone 8
