SIM card issues

Hello. I have recently upgraded to a new iPad Air with a new plan and a new SIM card came with it.

When I activated the SIM card, I entered the number of my new iPhone 12 mini in the activation process because I had already erased the content and settings from my old iPad mini 4 and iPhone XR and removed them from my iCloud list of devices. This stopped the SIM card in my iPhone 12 mini from working, so I put the newly activated SIM from my iPad Air into my iPhone 12 mini so that I could continue to make and receive phone calls and text messages but on my EE account, the number I have had for my iPhones for the past 7 years (also the number of my iPhone 12 mini) is now showing as my iPad Air’s number while the number which should be my iPad Air’s number is still showing as my iPad mini 4’s number.

I ordered some new SIM cards and each one has the number for my iPhone 12 mini and my iPad Air. I tried activating the new SIM card in my iPad Air, but to no avail. Do I need to set up my old iPad mini 4 and old iPhone XR again in order to activate the new SIM cards?

Hi @stompgal87,

Welcome back to the EE Community. 🙂

If you upgraded your iPad, you can just transfer the SIM from your old iPad into the new one. You would only need the new SIM if the old one didn't fit your new device.

As you entered your iPhone number into the SIM swap tool, it will have transferred your iPhone number to the new SIM. If you call someone from your iPhone, does the call show as your correct number?

I have just logged onto the My EE app and the number I have had for my iPhones for the past 7 years is now showing as my iPhone 12 mini’s number just as it should be. I will have another go at inserting the SIM with my iPad number into my iPad Air and see what happens from there.

I have put a SIM card other than the ones I was sent in the post in my iPad Air and now I'm getting a 3G/4G signal on it. The number I have had for my previous iPad mini 4 is now showing as the number for my new iPad Air in the My EE app, so thank you @James_B @for helping me resolve the issue.
