Questions about eSIMs (do they expire before being activated?)

Looking at getting a 12 mini when they're released next month and will be moving from my current X and would be looking at changing from my current physical SIM to an eSIM so I can get a 2nd line, I feel bad giving my work number out when companies request my number but then never answering as it's my work phone, haha!

What's the process for this, can I request an eSIM pack online now then activate it when I get the new phone or do I need to use it in a certain period of time once I get it (ala the 30 days a PAC is valid for)

@matt55   Where are you getting the 12 from ? If it’s from EE will only work on EE, after 6 months you can request it to be unlocked so you can then use the other sim slot on a different network.  The QR code has no expiry date until it is used.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.
