Poor signal in comparison to my wife

Davegerw

I recently switched to EE to take advantage of their better coverage in Liverpool.

my wife has been with EE a while. I switched last week and it’s noticeably worse than hers. We have the same phone, same software. But she regularly has 4g and I don’t.

is there a reason this could be different?

That begins to look like a possible issue with your device, in that case.

Are you able to swap SIMs between yourself & your wife's phone, to see if the issue follows the SIM or stays with the phone?

There's also the "Network settings" reset you can try, but this will also affect your saved WiFi details, so the SIM swap should at least help identify where the issue is.

Hi @Davegerw.

Welcome to the community.

What phone are you using?

What does your phone show instead of 4G?

Hi @Davegerw

Is your phone on pay-monthly or PAYG? If your wife is getting 4G coverage, are you seeing 2G/3G signal instead? Or no coverage at all? Do you get 4G coverage in other places?

You could potentially be seeing the effects of EE's "extended range" 800Mhz service that is only available to 4G calling customers.

We both have iPhone 11s. Same iOS. We are currently in the same place with no cases on and she has 3 bars of 4G and I have 2 bars of 3G.

We are both on monthly plans including 4g

Does your phone get a 4G signal anywhere else? If you restart your phone, does it get a 4G signal then - or remain connected to the 3G network?

It does sometimes but not as often.

when I restart it I still only have 3G
