Wifi calling not working on iPhone 7

After hours of trying every solution listed online/help guides/this forum, I just can't get wifi calling to work on my iPhone 7.

I have a sim only with a £10 pack and have followed every trouble shooting tip going including: enabling wifi, making sure the wifi signal is working, switching wifi off and on again, enabling wifi calling, disabling wifi calling, renabling wifi calling, enabling airplane mode and enabling wifi afterwards, removing/reinstalling the sim, resetting network settings, resetting the phone etc.. but I just get 'No Service' at the top left of my screen and no Wifi calling function.

My wife has an iPhone 8 with the same EE sim only pack, and she was actually prompted by her phone to enable wifi calling, which she did and it worked immediately.

Is this a problem with the iPhone 7?

Or is this a problem with EE/Sim only?

Did your sim/handset/number get the sms from -EE- that your sim/account is enabled for WiFi Calling?

You could try your sim in the other handset, as a test?

Hi @Brett70,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

Is it a pay as you go plan you are using?

James

No, it hasn’t prompted me with an SMS. I’m using the sim only with the pay as you go packs. I thought a sim only could only be used for that (ie. not contract)?

I will try the sim in the iPhone8 as a test 👍

OK, I have switched sims, so I put my sim into my wife’s iPhone 8 and her sim into my iPhone 7. The WiFi calling functionality is reversed, so her sim allowed WiFi calling on my phone but mine didn’t work in hers - the problem is with my account/sim and not the device.

ps, thank you for your help so far.

Probably a case of waiting a little longer for your account/sim - 4g/WiFi for PAYG;  it is still being rolled out.
