Ordered a new phone

I went through and placed an order for a new phone and deal but haven't received any email confirmation.
I have made an upfront payment via paypal and can see that payment in process so I know the order did go through but didn't receive an email regarding the order.
There was just an email saying I need to phone EE and have my order number.
How am I supposed to find this order number without it being sent, and why do I need to phone up?

Check your spam/junk folders.
If EE have asked you to call them then there must be some additional verification needed before you're accepted. They can identify you with your address so I suggest you call them.
