Number "currently unavailable" on my own phone

Hi folks! Help! Phone working fine first thing this morning, then stopped working, screen gone dark, and when I phone my mobile number from my landline I get "number currently unavailable". I have credit on my PAYG so I can't think why the phone's not working or the number inaccessible. Any ideas? 

It's a Nokia 2610 (I know, I know, it's ancient) but I only use it for texts and receiving / making the odd call.

Looks like we have a solution. Got through to the CS team and it might well be a very old SIM card being the issue, so he's sending me out a new one.

When did you last make a chargeable call or text? 

 

It maybe your number is in hibernation.

@HighlandCoo   You say the screen has gone dark, does it wake up ?   Can you do anything with the device ?   Is the device on ? does it need to be charged up ?

Thanks, Northerner. I wondered if it might be that but have just called customer service and the number is still active. The person was going to check it for me and then get back but then the phone got cut off after 10 seconds so I'm hanging on again waiting to speak to them again. 😞

Hi Chris - the battery is fine but the phone's not waking up. It's as though the illumination has failed, plus the number is still active but currently unavailable. CS were checking the number for me but the phone went dead so I'm hanging on the phone again.
