Nokia C2 and new sim

I have a Nokia C2, and have just arranged a new contract. A new sim has been received, but it won't work. Phone doesn't even switch on properly, doesn't find network, in fact screen lights then goes off, no words, no pictures, absolutely nothing. Put the old sim back in - works fine.

What do I do now?

Use the old SIM as it fits & works.

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

It fits and works, but the point of the new contract is to give me free calls/texts, the old one charges for everything, so EE said don't use.

Didn't you upgrade your old contract to the new, thus keeping your mobile no? In which case it's just an administrative plan change that the SIM auto picks up. The new SIM was sent only in case the old did not fit.

I was told I had to change sim, though I was able to keep the number. Don't know if new sim will still show history/calls/directory etc - it won't work so I cannot look!

What "history/calls/directory"? Aren't these on the phone itself, certainly not on a SIM? You haven't changed phone, just the plan, so they remain.

Or are you talking about something in your MyEE (tho' can't think what "directory" it can hold)? Again that won't change as it's for the same mobile no.

Ah, I didn't know that. Thought the data was on the sim.

Have taken out and put back in, still not working.

Sorry for confusion. Old sim works, but was told not to use it. New sim doesn't work and this is the one I'm supposed to use. All that happens is the phone lights up, but it doesn't connect to anything, no instructions, no logos... nothing.
