New sim temp number

Can I simply use the temporary number that comes with my new sim rather than porting my old number over?

I don't see any reason why not. Providing you've not already given EE your PAC and that it's therefore in-progress.

And if you've not used your PAC, be aware your account with your old provider will continue.
