My daughter lost her phone, we’ve got a new handset and sim and were advised her number would transfer automatically but the new sim isn’t working. When we request an activation code it’s not working because I think the code is going to her old sim which is still active somewhere….!

Welcome to the EE community
If you're having problems activating your new SIM online, I'd recommend calling EE C/S.
You can do so either on 150 from any EE mobile, or 0800 0798586 from any other phone.
