Hi everyone,
I bought a new handset from Amazon and put my sim card from my old phone into new. I then factory reset old phone so I could give to my brother. I realised the handset is locked to EE (he's not with them) and I have a new sim only contract with new phone. Is there anyway I can unlock old phone or is it just locked forever to EE?
Thanks in advance!

Where did you yourself get this device itself originally? Did you buy it yourself new direct from EE or from a 3rd-party reseller or is it 2nd-hand? The unlocking process & costs are different. Was it originally on contract or PAYG? How old is it? EE won't unlock contract devices less than 6 months old.

The phone is from 2015 and has been under pay monthly then sim only contract with EE since then. If I remember correctly I bought from a 3rd party seller site which has since closed down. I'm just unsure if it can actually be unlocked or if I've made a huge error in factory resetting the phone!

To unlock an EE device not bought directly from EE you need to call Customer Services on +44 800 956 6000 (option 2, option 4) to put you in touch with the Unlocking Team to request an Unlock Code. You will be asked for your email addy. They will take payment (of £8.99) from any valid UK bank card.
Once the process has been started you will receive an email from the Unlocking Team to process the unlock. It can take up to 10 days to complete the unlock.
