New phone, new contract on EE, do I need a PAC code

I have a rolling monthly contract that I want to cancel and replace with a new iphone 13 Pro and contract still on EE (but purchased from elsewhere) as its cheaper. How easy is it to move my number across? Do I need a PAC code if not changing networks, just contracts?

@mandshutt : Not particularly easy! EE won't port nos between its contracts. So you need to 1st port your existing no to another network's PAYG using a PAC from EE & then in reverse port it back to your new contract. This will also have the effect of cancelling your old contract.
You could alternatively "upgrade" your old contract to PAYG with 30 days notice & then ask EE to transfer the no to your new contract.
Has your existing contract seen out its min. term? Both above methods involve cancelling old contract. If you are still within your min term you will be liable to pay early termination fees for the rest of the term. It will basically be months left x monthly charge - 20%.

Hi @mandshutt ,
If you are currently a pay monthly customer on a rolling one month basis because you've completed your minimum term, want to buy your own iPhone 13 Pro, and want a new SIM-only upgrade contract with minimum term from EE, this should be trivial to accomplish either by phoning in or upgrading to SIM-only online.
I've been doing what you have described with Virgin Mobile for over a decade where I go between rolling one month and 12 month minimum terms, all while buying my phone elsewhere.
No PAC is required to upgrade a pay monthly contract with handset to a SIM-only contract with minimum term.
Historically what I've done is find the best SIM-only contract online and called to ask to be put on that. Minimal hassle for all parties.

@mikeliuk : Notice that OP is not buying his own phone outright from elsewhere but a phone including SIM on EE from a 3rd-party reseller. Hence another EE contract for which EE will not transfer his existing number.
