How long will it take for the new phone to connect to the EE network?

It should connect straight away. Have you upgraded? Can you try your old sim?

Welcome to the community.
Is it a brand new SIM and number or did you upgrade?
As @Northerner said, if it's an upgrade, you should be able to pop your old SIM in and it'll work straight away.
What kind of phone is it?
