Locked phone

I am pretty disgusted with EE after discovering today that not only is my new phone locked to the network but that on top of that I have to wait 6 months before  it can be unlocked but only if I pay EE to do this!!! Not happy about this at all especially because it's  now less than 5 months until the outright ban by Ofcom on selling locked phones comes into force in December, meaning that the ban will have already come into effect before I am going to be allowed to get it unlocked and forced by EE to pay to have it done! I have to say that  is some very underhanded tactics from a company with such massive profits!

@XRaySpeX & I have been sold a phone that will still be locked with no possibility of it being unlocked under any circumstances at all until after that legislation comes into force which EE are well aware of and fully intend to force to still keep paying to have it done therefore still penalising customers unfairly and unjustly and taking no notice whatsoever of  Ofcom regulations

@KyleJB  so you’re going to complain to Ofcom about a rule that coming into effect in December about your device that’s not unlocked now.

The response will be it’s not December,

And you have no idea what EE are going to do about your device that’s currently locked come December.

And come December it’s devices sold after the set date not what got sold before.

The UK's communications regulator Ofcom is banning phone carriers from selling locked handsets starting in December 2021”

If you got this device with the last 14 days online or over the phone why don’t you exercise your right to the 14 day cooling off period to call customer service and tell them you don’t want the device/contract as your obviously not a happy chap about the device that’s currently locked to EE and doesn’t have to be unlocked because it’s not December yet.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.
