Keep old ee sim in new phone

Monty09
Visitor

My phone broke, so I got a new device else were as my contract with ee ends on the 2nd of November. Currently I have both ee and the new providers sim in my phone.

But when the 2nd comes around, can I change my old ee number to pay-as-you-go. This is because doctors ect have that number.

Also in my home I get 5g coverage with my new provider but at work my ee signal is better. So I switch between

If not should I just use the pac and take my ee number over?

Thankyou

Hi @Monty09

Once your pay-monthly plan is outside its minimum term you can opt to cancel the contract and move it to PAYG, if that's what suits your circumstances. You just need to make sure that you are within the UK when the change happens, and that you are aware of the hibernation policy on low-usage.

Just to add that, the pay as you go hibernation period that @bristolian has mentioned is as follows:

If you’ve had no chargeable activity on your account for 60 days, EE will send you a text to make sure you’re still using the SIM card and you’d like to keep the account active.

If you haven’t used your phone for any chargeable activity for 179 days, your account will go into hibernation and any credit will be removed. But at this point it’s not too late to reinstate it, you would just need to get in touch with customer service.

When your number is in hibernation, it is still possible to get it back until you’ve reached 269 days of no chargeable activity. After 269 days of inactivity EE will send you a text to let you know the number will be disconnected within 24 hours.

After 273 days the number will be recycled and lost.
