Is it possible to cancel my contract before its even started?

Hi, I ordered my EE SIM the other day, unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 200GB, I kind of regret picking that now, I wish that I went with the unlimited data option. My SIM hasn't actually even turned up yet and nor have I been charged the first monthly payment. Is it possible to cancel my current contract so that I can change to the unlimited data plan? Thanks.

Yes, If you ordered by phone or online you always have a cooling-off period up to 14 days after delivery to cancel your order FoC. If you ordered in-store you have no such "change-of-mind" right of return.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Oh okay sweet, how do I go about doing that? Can I just do it online or do I need to call them up? I also bought the SIM online.

Hi @ConorJDavies1 ,

Does the below link seem near the mark?

I think it's quite likely you could call up to ask for the contract you want. I think moving to a more expensive plan is allowed in the Terms and Conditions but any discounts you used would fall off (which is bad for me as I would lose 20% discount but I have considered moving to unlimited data a few times).

A quick mention that I'm in a similar situation where I've taken the 200 GB option with Reserve Data and one Smart Benefit. If you have a Smart Benefit, an alternative play is to use the Video Data Pass to zero rate streaming usage which may be sufficient for you. My current strategy is to make use of Reserve Data capped at 2 Mbps which does fine for the 7 days after I exhaust my allowance but before the renewal, and I've found 2 Mbps is sufficient for work usage, inclusive of Teams voice calls and receiving video presentations.

A further consideration is about four months in, I'm now being offered "Unlimited Data Pass 5G7" at GBP 10/mth probably as I have a small data shortfall and this may change your calculation.

Thanks, the SIM hasn't arrived yet. Can I still fill out that form or do I need to wait until the SIM card arrives?

You can fill it in now. Once your form has been received EE will get in touch with you to advise you on your next steps.

Thanks! You're welcome 🙂 ! Glad I could be of assistance

Hi again, do you have any idea how long the process takes? I filled out the cancellation form on Wednesday and still have not heard anything back, kind of worried that I will go over the 14-day return deadline without hearing anything back from EE.

Have you received the SIM yet? As long as you informed EE within 14 days of receiving it you've done your bit.
