Hi looking to install a tracker on PAYG in a vehicle questions on running costs

Hi looking to put a tracker into a new vehicle within a few months and trying to do this as cheaply as possible . Have been advised that if I got a separate SIM on EE it would cost me the price of the tracker unit and £8;50 per month for the phone bill.

However if I do PAYG then it would be an upfront one off cost of £10 and I could just top up a £1 every month . I would also have to remove the SIM from the tracker every other week to keep the simcard active .

My questions are ;

1. wouldn't the tracker keep the SIM active by sending me it's location so I wouldn't have to remove the sim manually to make a call/text as advised to keep it active.

2. If I top up with a £1/month on PAYG what if the wind was shaking the car and it used up my allowance in one day ?

3. Does the data roll over at the end of the month ?

4. If the phone is only sending me update texts , can I donate the data automatically to a family member who is on my account .

5. The question that I don't know that I should be asking ?

many thanks in advance for any help in this matter

Hi @RichDragon.

Welcome to the community.

Have you already found the tracker that you want?

Some trackers work in different ways, but will need data.

You won't need to remove the SIM.

You can only gift data on a pay monthly contract, and to another number on your account.
