Esim back order out of stock

Hi

Ordered an ESim to go with my iPhone 11 yesterday, had a text tonight 7.30pm saying;

Hi from EE due to stock levels your Esim is on back order, once back in stock we will dispatch the requested Esim to yourself. Sorry for the delay EE
This has been confirmed by ee live chat tonight. What I don’t get is how is a electronic item out of stock.
