Equipment charge

I checked my bank account this morning to find that £95 had been taken out by EE. My upgraded fee should be £45. Upon checking my bill, I had been credited from my previous bill but also charged an equipment fee of £100. Does anyone else know what this is? I’ve already paid £100 upfront for the phone. I webchatted with customer services to ask and they wouldn’t explain, just kept telling me about my sim replacement charge of £1.50. Has anyone else had this problem! I just want to know why I’ve been charged extra 😅

@Mrbraddybrad  Where are you seeing his £100 charge?  If it’s on your EE account that’s the payment you’ve already made.  EE have to show this,  but does it have a - before it ?

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

It’s in this months bill. It’s an actual charge not a credit to the account 🙂

Hi @Mrbraddybrad ,

If the GBP 95 charge was made by Direct Debit, I wouldn't worry about it too much as unauthorized debits in theory would be easily recoverable. I would recommend to contact the service provider again to justify that charge in light of the up-front payment which you have already made. If they do not justify the charge to your satisfaction, you can escalate and advise the manager you may need to raise the issue with your bank as a suspected unauthorized transaction.

If a number of escalations cannot determine what the charge is (e.g. a deposit for roaming or international calls), you may then report the charge to your bank as a suspected unauthorized transaction and request that the bank contacts the charging party directly to collect information on why the charge is made and to resolve the issue directly. Good luck! 🤓

The extra £50 is most likely a refundable deposit against roaming, of which you should've been informed.
