EE4g router lte aerial

In the instructions that are supplied with the original router there are instructions on connecting two aerials to the back of the router, As I'm in a rented property I don't want to pay for an external aerial but I can't find details or spec for these aerials, only the ones that EE engineers mount outside the house. Anyone any ideas?

Hi @ChrisJD1

Welcome to the community. 🙂

Which 4G LTE router is it that you have?

Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks, it's the original square white one with two LAN ports only on the back, I can't find a model name or number. EE have superseded it with a Router 2, but this is the original one.

Hope that helps, hope you can help.

OK thanks, @ChrisDJ1. I know which one you're referring to now. 🙂

The only information that I can find is in relation to the external antenna. Is it extenders that you're looking at? Do you already have antennas ready to attach or are you looking to get some?

Chris

Hi Chris, no I haven't got any aerial, I'm just going from the diagram in the Quick Start Guide which shows two aerials screwed into the back of the router where the two connections are on either side beneath removable cover tabs. There are loads on Amazon, but checking reviews it suggests that you have to match the aerial to the router. Think I may call EE.

Cheers,

Chris

Hi @ChrisJD1.

I think calling may be the best option at this point.

Let us know how you get on 🙂

Hi @ChrisJD1.  I have a 4GEE router and live fairly close to the mast (about 1m).  I did have a couple of those short 'stub' LTE aerials lying around which fitted just fine and work ok.  You can buy these on ebay, Amazon etc.  The external aerials are only really necessary if you are a fair distance from the mast or there is a hill/tall buildings in between.
