Drop in Service Reliability?

NEBeekeeper
Visitor

Anybody else using 4G mobile for home broadband noticing a drop in service reliability and speeds?

When originally installed, down load speeds were upward of 50Mb/sec now we’re down around 10.  In addition, I’m having to reset my router much more frequently.

Would be grateful for support/advice.

Yes, a definite decrease in reliability. A slight reduction in speed.

Hi @NEBeekeeper

Assuming that your received signal is of a broadly similar strength, then slower speeds are generally indicative of increased usage on the network in your area - either caused by more users, or those users conducting more data-intensive tasks.

As a first-line check, the status checker will report any known issues in your area, although slower speeds would not ordinarily be an "issue" in the strict sense of the word. Do your speeds vary depending on time of day/week at all?

If you're having to reset your router, that's potentially an issue with the device itself.

So far as the speeds/traffic-loading goes, where (roughly) are you?

I don't know where you are, but in Central/W London I had the same thing (very weak signal, and reported bandwith was down to less than 1 Mbps at times).

In the last 24 hours, signal strength is back and throughput has improved, although reported b/w is still not what it was.

Are things better now?
