Contract sim in different phone

I have a pay monthly contract with EE which ends soon. Don’t like the phone that came with the contract and have bought an unlocked iPhone. Can I use the sim that’s contracted with the old phone in my new iPhone? Are there any sneaky costs involved?

You may use your EE SIM in any compatible phone.
