@Marshyman74  At the minimum term date your contract will change to a 30 day rolling contract at the same price point after 3 months your bill will reduce 10%.

If you terminate at the minimum term date you’ll have no working signal so you need upgrade/continue as you are on a 30 day rolling contract ( discount after 3 months) or change networks.

Hi @Marshyman74 ,

Assuming you are on pay-monthly mobile, please check the below link to see if any particular discount applies during your minimum term which may fall off at the end of your minimum term.

Recently there have been reports of customers being stung by monthly payments reverting to the amount of the base contract when a highly favourable discount expires. Typically, payments will either stay the same or go up the month immediately after the minimum term and this will be an incentive for customers to renegotiate another minimum term to be offered a more favourable price.

It's especially important to get off the previous contract if the previous price was set higher on account of a device which you now own as you don't want to be paying multiple times for your own property.

You can give a 30 days' notice for your SIM to transfer to Pay As You Go if you don't want to renegotiate a minimum term SIM-only service. If you don't care about your number and don't want to port it away with a PAC, you can give 30 days' notice to cancel your contract, lose the number and inactivate your SIM.

@mikeliuk  Can you please link to these reports ??     If a price goes up because of not doing anything it’s because the discount if there was one has been removed because it’s only applicable for the term of the contract.  ( never seen that happen ever though )

The price will not increase just because of the minimum term date has been reached.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

I think the ones I had in mind are for fixed line broadband: https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Broadband-home-phone/Fibre-Price-increase-30/td-p/1096793 https://comm...

My own mobile contract is an example as I have a discount which will only last 24 months so the price paid from my bank account will increase at the end of the minimum term if I do nothing about that.

Agreed that reaching the end of the minimum period is no reason for any increase on its own. It's only if a discount expires at the end that the price would revert to the original price which is higher than when the discount applied.

@mikeliuk : So there aren't any such reports as alleged in your (yet another) misleading post. BB pricing is completely unlike that of mobile.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

Ok thanks ,just with 02 the dropped the price down when the contract ended .

So Ee are gonna charge me the same price for the contact even though the phone is now paid for which seems like a rip off or a play to make you renew your contract

EE has no concept of paying off the handset. You agreed to pay the same price for the full duration of the contract. There will however be a 10% discount 3 months after the end of min. term. You may always choose to upgrade your contract to a cheaper SIM-Only contract within the last 45 days of your contract term.

Thanks ,as the contract ended 2 weeks ago and there is nothing upgrade to unless you pay silly money.do I just ring CS to end the contract ,it's not worth continuing to pay 42 pounds a month for basically a sim ,at least 02 saw the contract was up and reduced the monthly fee and made it sim only .

Hi @Marshyman74 ,

It's absolutely the case that EE is one of the more expensive network service providers. Another one I can name with prices that make my eyes water is Vodafone.

Service providers which charge a premium justify the higher cost by the additional services and extras provided, and higher investment in the network infrastructure than no-frills networks. I've experienced first-hand that EE is better in my location than the Three network which is congested here but not elsewhere.

In my particular case, I was enticed to EE by the Amazon Prime Video Smart Benefit at the time, but it's doubtful I would be here without the 20% discount to new customers I had access to.

In about 18 months' time, I'm likely to find myself in your position with no affordable SIM-only contract to upgrade to with EE.

Hope EE is able to work something out for you if there is a retentions department.

If you're not reliant on that SIM, one play is to request the SIM is moved to Pay As You Go so you can continue to receive calls and have the option to port your number to a new network.

It can be quite painful to be out of the minimum contact period when you can pay much more than you need to over many months.

If you got your current mobile from EE, for God's sake get it unlocked before you jump ship. The reports of problems unlocking devices are hellish, as one can easily search for without my assistance.
