Connecting via ethernet cable - should LAN light be blue?

AlisonBeck78

I am trying to use an ethernet cable with my 4G wifi router. When I have the cable plugged in to one of the LAN ports, the 'LAN' light is not lighting up blue. Should it be lighting up?

If so... how can I make the ethernet cable work?

(I'm plugging the other end of the ethernet cable into a Macbook Pro via a thunderbolt converter.)

Thanks for any help!

Hi @AlisonBeck78,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

Which router are you using?

Is your MacBook's internet connection working when plugged in?

James

Hi James. It is a 4GEE home router, and the internet worked when I had the Ethernet cable plugged in.

Thanks!

Hi @AlisonBeck78,

If your MacBook was able to connect to the internet when connect via LAN, everything must be working as it should.
