Can I get my number back?

Hi, I had been using a EE number since 2018 as an overseas student in UK. However as the pandemic started in 2019, I am forced to return home and the number had been left aside for quite a while...it is attached to my bank account and things like that, I am unable to return to UK to fix this issue so is there any way I could get my number back?
