Received a call from EE couple of days ago that I can upgrade now, ok lets make sure you send the iphone 12 mini unlocked....
EE - yes we will...
Guess what, it was locked.
Have returned yesterday, no apologies from EE for wasting my time and now have to wait around 7 to 10 days for refund, I will be requesting PAC and moving to different operator.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Out of interest, would EE not have just requested Apple unlock it for you for free or would they charge? Or make you wait a period of time before allowing it?

@sadahsan The rule on networks selling unlocked devices is December and not before. You shouldn’t of been told it’ll be an unlocked device and customer services should know better than to say that.

Yesterday bought the phone from Currys (unlocked) on a very good offer and it will work out cheaper as compare to EE pay monthly.
I am done with EE.

Disappointing to hear about the six month rule but glad you've found a solution that works for you 😀
