Apple Watch series 6 cellular and gps

Good evening. I went into the pontefract shop today. To get an Apple Watch series 6 cellular and gps to be told I had to be on a pay monthly contract and my sim only With EE would Not work. Is this correct?

@Nicola78  No that’s not correct at all.  As long as it’s a contract it will work with a cellular watch.

@Chris_B @Thank you I thought that was the case as I had read it on the EE website. I got the feeling my sim only for EE. He wanted me to take a new contract phone and I don’t want to.
