5G EE Router loss of speed

Baltic9502

Ordered and the speed was connected at 270mb pretty constantly, happy days.

Yesterday and still today the speeds on 5G have dropped to at most 5mb, clearly not right. On 4G it can reach around 16mb.

For the price, 5mb isn't enough. I have called and placed a report and the agent said that the '5G technologies is down in my area' OK. I check on EE coverage checker, and it is showing no issues... interesting.

I'll give the report a day or so and if no improvement I will send back within the 14 days. I'm not confident that if the 5G is being affected in my area why is it not showing on EE network status, yet the team members are telling me differently?

Hi @Baltic9502

Welcome to the community.

Have you reported a problem in your area on the coverage checker too? If you would like someone to discuss it with, I recommend speaking to our technical support team again.

Hopefully it's back to the speeds you were seeing before soon.

Chris

It was reported, and I did speak to the 'technical' team. I don't believe they are actually very technical (not a dig, just how they act on the phone) it seems they just troubleshoot from a guide and then 'report the problem'

For instance, they went on about this broken mast (which doesn't show up on ee's own network status, everything is showing as OK) and then just reported the issue again. Asked to confirm details and sent me a text saying the issue at postcode XXXX is being looked into - although they used the wrong postcode!

It takes around 10 minutes to navigate the annoying menu on the phone, and I'd already done it twice, so didn't feel like doing it again.

Speeds are still terrible this evening and I have no confidence it will change, looking at all the "5G Slower than 4G threads" on here.

Hi @Baltic9502,

Please let us know what you hear in the next update about the issue. They should get back to you in the next few days.
