Hi
When our 4G EE Router was first plugged in (a few months ago) we had been getting over 30/40mb download speed with the full four reception lights lit on the router. Brilliant! 👍🏻. However, recently we have been seeing only two lights lit and download speeds of 2-3mb at times! Router has not moved position in the house. we did take it with us on UK based holiday and got four lights lit but on returning home, reception remains lower.
Just checked EE online reception checker and we should be getting up to 30mb.
Any ideas?
thanks in advance.

Hi @IanL64 and welcome to the EE community!
Firstly when you mention the online reception checker claiming "upto 30mb", what site have you used, exactly? I suspect this may be a fixed-line based checker, as none of the mobile coverage checkers quote expected speed - just predicted coverage.
The mobile coverage checker is here
Download speeds are subject to many variables, least of all what other usage there is on the network in your area at the time. If you're seeing a reduction in signal indicators, it's possible that there is an outage in your area, which leaves to all the call & data traffic being offloaded elsewhere - which can cause slower speeds for all users.
As a first check, local faults & planned maintenace are reported on the status checker here

Thanks Bristolian
Online Coverage Checker was on EE Website.
I did check for issues but none showing.
Have logged an online problem - though submission not completed after a few minutes since Submitted 🙄🤣.
Had just wondered if our experience was rare or others had fixed similar issue.
Until now, we have been really pleased with speeds but to drop to as little as 2-3mbs is less than were getting on a normal landline! 🤯.
Appreciate you responding so quickly. thanks. 👍🏻

The only web-checkers that will give you a predicted speed are those that relate to landline products, including EE's fixed line broadband. The checker that covers mobile network coverage only gives a prediction for signal strength and not estimated speed.
The speeds over mobile data can vary as I outlined in my previous post, if you have submitted a report using the mobile network status checker it will be investigated by network teams incase of any fault.
