Hi there,
this has taken me half an hour to access this community (please improve easy access Mr and Mrs ee) fat too complicated
I have a iPhone 17 pro and suddenly my ability to connect to radio has stopped
it will work when connected to wi-fi, but now not work without wi-fi.
can someone explain and give me a solution …..that is easy to fix
thank you
and I must repeat to EE, it is so annoying that it is so complicated to find a simple way to ask this question to the EE community.
I recognise my understanding of things like Mobile and Internet and laptop laptops is not great, this is no excuse for making what should be a simple process far too complicated
so my question again is how do I get access to the radio on my iPhone 17 pro, just as I was able to until two days ago
I have done nothing different and cannot understand this
thank you
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Welcome to the community.
Most iPhones don’t have a built‑in radio receiver, so am I right in saying you are listening to an app to stream stations?
If it is, it is worth checking mobile data is switched on for the app to work when you aren't connected to WiFi by going to Settings > Mobile Data > Scroll to your radio app and make sure the toggle is ON.
If that doesn't resolve it, check to see if you can open a website or YouTube on mobile data (Wi‑Fi off). If nothing loads, it could be a data connection issue, not the app
You can then try to turn mobile data off and back on by going to Settings > Mobile Data > toggle off, then back on.
If you still have trouble, try to restart your phone, or reset the network settings by going to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This step will remove your WiFi connection, so you'll need to set that up again.
You can also try to uninstall and reinstall the app to see if that gets it working again.
If you are finding that nothing works on mobile data, and it is switched on in the phone settings, check on our network status checker to see if there are any current works or problems in the area.
Please keep me posted with how that goes.

Toggle just means to press on the button next to the setting, for example on mobile data you press to turn it off and on again.
You won't be resetting the WiFi, it will be the network settings, which is effectively how the phone connects to the internet through WiFi and mobile data.
As long as you choose Reset Network Settings, and not one of the other options, nothing else on your phone will be impacted but you will need to connect to the WiFi again once the network settings are reset. You can do this by going to Settings > WiFi > Choose your WiFi name and then enter the password for the WiFi.

Michael was suggesting this originally...
"If you are finding that nothing works on mobile data, and it is switched on in the phone settings, check on our network status checker to see if there are any current works or problems in the area."
If you don't have coverage, it's a tad wee tricky to make or receive calls, send or receive texts, or use mobile data.
It's quite common for posters reporting "I can't make a call" or "I can't use this, that or the other app" to be asked whether they can use other network-based services. All of which is a layman's way of asking, "does your phone have coverage"
