iPhone 14 and 14 Pro Preorder tracking thread

I've done this a few times and thought it would be bad to break tradition, so wanted to create a thread for people to discuss their preorders etc as we all wait for our new iPhones.

I am out of contract as it ran out this month, just in time to upgrade with no upgrade fees.

had sim free, out of contract. Did an online upgrade to iphone 14pro max + full works plan etc. delivery was "expect it day of launch".  Got xko email immediately and nothing else.

Phoned customer services to check and I said "I know you probably can't check online orders" the guy said "of course we can, hold on a second"  - he then read my order back to me and said yep all fine all confirmed nothing else for you to do.

I said ok, so is it guaranteed launch day? how about all those "tracking" numbers people have been getting?

He said yeah well end of the day can't promise anything. If you get a DPD tracking number then you're fine if not then it won't turn up until the day after you finally do.

Feels somewhat amateur given places like apple, currys, ao, argos etc all seem to know how many they're getting and -1 every time someone orders. Feels very much like ee are just saying "day of launch" to everyone to get the orders and then take tha flak after 😞 very much hope I'm wrong. If not, I'll ditch ee.

@Keithop After multiple years of doing this I’m still not sure what the correlation is between the xko number, the order number and the dpd tracking number.

 

i suppose all I’d say is, if the indicator of when you’re going to get it is the dpd tracking number then no-one is in that position yet as the 14 digit dpd numbers haven’t been generated until stock is recieved by ee, allocated against the order and dispatched/ manifested to the carrier (dpd)

 

that will normally start to happen from Wednesday.

This will be the first black phone I’ve ordered for several years and I’m quite excited by that (ordered pro max, space black 256gb) the last few years I’ve had midnight green, pacific blue, sierra blue but the novelty colour just doesn’t wow me this year.

So if it’s any help to people, I upgraded at 1pm on Friday and the website was clearly struggling I logged in to upgrade and the website had a different layout, it allowed me to choose any plan I wanted and didn’t ask for £100 upfront for the upgrade anytime which from what I gather it shouldn’t have let me do but I completed the upgrade and got an xko order confirmation. I rang 150 and they said if you have an order confirmation you’re fine but I rang up again because I wasn’t confident it had gone through and my EE account was still saying I could upgrade for £100, they checked the order and said it hasn’t gone through correctly it only went through as a standard upgrade which would have been left on hold and wouldn’t be confirmed the lady on the phone processed the upgrade correctly I still didn’t have to pay the £100 did have to change to an unlimited data tariff because the system wouldn’t let her lower below what I’m already on.

but after the phone call I got a 002 order number and I can track it online now

I’ve still just got the XKO number but upfront fee is no longer pending on my bank account, it’s now a paid debit, and is showing as a credit on my EE account. I’ve also added the Apple Watch Ultra too and it’s done the same. I called CS yesterday as I didn’t have on 02 order number like everyone else and can’t track my order but CS they could see order and just to wait for DPD. I’m assuming that as upfront fees have come out of my bank account and showing as a credit on EE account, all must be well.

So after chatting on live chat, concerned that I have not received a 001/002 number, the guy wasn’t overly helpful. I read a post on this thread that after talking to CS they got their numbers. The guy I spoke to told me nobody has received their 001/002 numbers yet. So either he was lying to m or you guys are! Haha. 

I preordered on 9th and I read all these posts so I called up just. The woman on the phone was really polite and we exchanged banter, she was great. She informed me that my online order wasn’t confirmed as I should of had an emails saying to call to confirm my details. I had no such message and she confirmed that now I may have to wait 2 weeks for my iPhone pro max 128gb deep purple handset. She said it could come on release day but no one knows. She spoke to a colleague and said that the phones aren’t allocated to anyone right now so as they come they will get shipped out to whoever, so all orders might be for filled but no guarantee. This is ridiculous! Fingers crossed ey?

@Dan_W the fairest thing I can say about the person you spoke to who claimed no-one has their 001/002 order numbers is that he may need to reassess why he thinks that.

@Spicelowery sorry to hear that. while they essentially have to tell people this, it will be the case that the website is providing estimates based on what stock they expect but they’ll have been burnt before by manufacturers under supplying which is not something that is within EE’s control until they have stock in their DC’s

 

the only thing anyone can really with certainty is that pre-order day is like this every year and that you’d be in no better position buying from apple direct as they quickly slipped to 25/10 or beyond for shipping.
