SIM and eSIM cards

Scot-AmStudent

I upgraded my phone on the 13th of August at a T-Mobile store in California. I upgraded from an iPhone 11 to an iPhone 14. I did not realise that this would result in me losing the ability to use a physical SIM card in my phone. For context, I have my American phone number as an e-SIM card, and my EE SIM card as a physical SIM card. Now, I am unable to access my UK phone number, which I need so that I can communicate with friends and contacts in the UK, and generally thrive at university. Is there anything that you can do to convert a physical SIM card to an e-SIM card? I still have physical possession of the SIM card, and I return to St Andrews on 6 September. I have been unable to find how to convert the SIM card to an eSIM on the EE app. Thank you all in advance.

Hi @Scot-AmStudent

Welcome to the community.

If you have a pay monthly contract, you will be able to convert your SIM to an eSIM when you get back to the UK. If it's pay as you go, it won't be available, as @XRaySpeX said.

If your EE SIM is on PAYG, you can't get an eSIM from it.
