Ported number but iPhone won’t change

Hey all. 

I’ve received a text from EE saying my old number has successfully ported over from my old phone. 

I can ring people and it shows the correct number. 

people who ring me on the correct number I can get these calls. 

However my iPhone displays the temporary number and I can’t change this. I have power cycled the phone, turned iMessage and FaceTime off. However I still cannot change the number for my actual number.

I tried all the trouble shooting below but it did not work for me, so after being on the phone with Apple for half hour I have the solution:

• on iCloud tab > sign-in & security remove as a trusted number from two factor authentication

• on messages > iMessage turn off iMessage 

• on FaceTime turn off FaceTime 

• on General > transfer or reset iPhone click reset network settings the phone will the restart. You will have to write in the WiFi password again. 

• turn iMessage back on then > send & receive and tick the number 

• turn FaceTime back on. It should have changed on my number too 🙂
