New sim paym not working in existing iPhone XR

Hi I’ve inserted my new SIM card into my existing iPhone XR but is not registering. I’ve turned phone on and off, cleaned sim but nothing. Can anyone help pls?

@Les181  the sim needs time to activate. You need to allow up to 24 hours it should only take a few through.     Just to check the device is ok to use EE and isn’t locked to a different network?

It’s a new sim on a new network

I was originally with sky and it’s an unlocked phone

Can you go into Settings > Mobile Dara > Network Selection, does EE show? 

 

If not, where did you purchase the SIM card?

I’ve tried taking the sim out and replacing it but I’m now getting no SIM card inserted

 

It doesn’t no, it it’s just says Add Data Plan.

I purchased the sim from yourselves last week.
