New sim paym not working in existing iPhone XR

Hi I’ve inserted my new SIM card into my existing iPhone XR but is not registering. I’ve turned phone on and off, cleaned sim but nothing. Can anyone help pls?

Yes my existing Sky one still works if I insert it

The SIM card should be working for you, do you have any other unlocked phone you can try the SIM card in?

My son has tried the sim in his phone and it’s not detecting it. He also put his own ee SIM card in my phone and it worked fine, it’s like the sim is not activated.
