When I go in to the watch app and to mobile data and try to tap set up mobile service, this is greyed out and gives me the following message:

This Apple Watch does not support EE mobile service in this region. Apple Watch can only be used with mobile plans that are certified by your network provider, and for your region. Visit https://www.apple.com/uk/watch/cellular for more information about Apple Watch mobile plans.

anyone seen this before?

Hi @Paulbrewer,

Please get in touch on 150 so we can complete the activation for you.

Thanks

Hey buddy did you get it resolved??? It’s getting beyond the joke now with EE

Afraid not.  In my case the issue is the watch was purchased in the US so even though it supports 3 out of the 4 4g bands that EE uses it will not allow me to set up 4g

Ok sorry to hear that buddy that sucks, that gives me a bit of hope however.

seeing as I bought mine in the Uk.

just need EE to get there act together

Thanks for replying

I’m hoping that EE will decide to open support for watches bought in the USA. I’m sure there are loads of people suffering this issue. Ultimately it reduces the function of the cellular function of the watch but only marginally and I’d be happy to pay even knowing this is the case.

EE over to you!!

I recently bought an Apple Watch Ultra from the US and had the same issue.  EE has told me they do not support the iWatch Ultra's purchased in the United States.  This isn't very reassuring to me.  I wanted a watch with a data plan independent of my iPhone while cycling and hiking.  I recently had an accident that knocked out my iPhone, making it impossible for me to call on my watch.  Hopefully, EE will support watches purchased in the states soon.  And hopefully, I will not get into an accident that damages my iPhone enough to stop me from making calls from my watch.

Any luck with getting this to work?

I wanted to buy Apple Watch ultra direct from apple and use the 30 day data plan from EE with it.

Hi @djsmith83

Do you have a pay monthly account with us?

Leanne 🙂

Just got back from the USA with an Apple Watch Ultra that I purchased directly from Apple (in NY), the sales person assured me that there would be no issue with the device working in the UK.

Unfortunately I'm in the same boat, the "Set Up Mobile Service" button is disabled.

Had a chat with two EE support personnel that said "all you need is a data service and it will work", I had to direct them to this page that I stumbled across whilst chatting to them.

This seems like more of an Apple issue than an EE issue as I was misled into purchasing the device (with Apple Care+). I will go into the Apple store over the weekend and respond here with the outcome.

Any update @wdcossey ?

I’m in the US now and have just picked up an Ultra with the same result.  Part of it makes sense given roaming isn’t supported, but I’m here for another week and will simply return it if it’s a pointless exercise in keeping it.

I will call EE in my AM to discuss but I assume this is an EE limitation, not Apple given what I’ve read elsewhere on these very forums that the missing band on the US version is seldom, if ever used.  And even then, not a hard requirement.
