Hi @Cantusecant
Is this a PAYG SIM or pay monthly contract?
Are you in the UK?
Is your device unlocked?
Thanks

Thanks for your reply Northerner.
Yes, it is a PAYG, yes UK, and yes, unlocked.
It was working perfectly until relatives, "accidently created a new and superfluous facebook account for my Mum, when they are already 'friends' with her an a previously created account. How they have made the EE telephone Network inoperable is a complete mystery and extremely irritating. There was plenty of credit on the phone too. You cant ring in or out.
In settings under General, it says no network. Sim not provisioned. I've turned it on and off again, taken out the sim and put it back in. Put it in airplane mode and off again. All solutions I read on the web and not worked. EE doesn't recognise the number. It is definitely with EE. I have 'complained ' to them and am awaiting their reply.

I'm sorry to hear about the problem with your phone, but I'm not aware of a way that the Facebook account would affect this, @Cantusecant
Please keep us updated with your complaint, it would be interesting to find out what caused this.

I've had a very long on line chat with Richard from EE. He wasn't able to help but that was not his fault. He really did try.
It appears that the number does exist.
We have established that the phone is registered but to whom or what version of name - that is a mystery.
That is it possible that the phone hasn't been used in a way to use credit for over the 3 months so it has probably been somehow deactivated.
We now have to go to a EE store with ID but if the phone is not registered to Mum then we are no further forward as we won't be able to verify the account.
Mum bought the phone from her friend. The friend bought a new EE sim card with new number and credit. We don't know if the friend registered it or not. If she did what details we do not know. They are both in their 80's and sorry to say they are not tech savvy at all. If companies want this demographic to get on the internet, they need to make it much easier for relatives to help them to do this. I cant find out anything because of data protection basically. It appears that we will have to get a new sim and lose the credit of @ £45 mum thinks she had left on the phone.
So, no further forward.
But yes, nothing to do with Facebook!
Thank you for your reply.
I will update with further info when we get it, you never know, it might help someone else one day.

Thanks for coming back with the update, @Cantusecant.
I'm sorry that Richard wasn't able to sort this out. Hopefully the store can help.
Keep us posted.
