Hi everyone - I have a Samsung device that is locked. I started the unlocking process by pressing *#06# to find my IMEI number which I then verified on the form. I was then taken to a screen which gave me my unlock code which I was told to keep handy as I would "need it for the next bit"
I was asked to "Hit the link below. We’ll explain how to use your unlock code to finish things up"
Unlock your Samsung device
That link takes me back to the screen with instructions on how to retrieve and verify my IMEI number which I have already done - if I try to repeat those steps I get this message
I then entered my email address to have "the steps to unlock your device" sent to me by email. The email says my unlock request has been accepted and shows my IMEI device number but there are some simple steps I need to complete on the device itself before I can use it on any UK network". There is also a link. Great - now I'm getting somewhere - the link takes me to this page:
There are no further instructions to unlock my device or how to use the unlock code I was given - which is different to the device's IMEI number. The two links on the page to unlock my device take me back AGAIN to the IMEI retrieval and verification page which I have already done and tried to repeat. After an hour of going round in circles I've given up.
Can anyone help me please?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Amazing! Thank you so much for putting this on here as I was starting to pull my hair out with frustration at the lack of instruction on the EE how to screen.

I've had the same problem and thankfully this thread has provided the solution after going around in circles on EE's stupid "help" pages. They still haven't bothered to update the advice after 5 months...just shows how much they care. Glad to be leaving EE, and once my broadband contract ends that's me finished with them!

Glad you worked it out, but it would be really helpful if you could share how you did it? 7 months on from your post the EE website is still doing the same thing, sending you round in circles and not telling you what to do with the unlock code.
I put the unlock in and it said it was incorrect - it's not!

EE need to sort this issue. The instructions are still incorrect on the website 7 months on from someone highlighting the problem on here.
I now have the same issue. I'm trying to put a PAYG sim into my old contract phone - it's not EE PAYG. I found the IMEI number, I have the unlock code, but when I put the code in I get a message saying it's incorrect.
Is there a solution to this problem??

And what if this doesn't work? I've followed all the steps and it's saying the code is incorrect. What else can you do?

Wow, that worked!!!
Your request to EE to get them to update their website has fallen on deaf ears. I'm having the same problems 7 months later.

@Donna265 : Put a non-EE SIM in & supply the unlock code you got from EE when it asks.
To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone
ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

If you'd read the rest of the posts you would see that that advice does not work!
When you put in the unlock code you get an error message.
You need to do what somebody else has said on this thread. After so many attempts at putting in the unlock code, it blocks you from continuing. You then put the last 8 digits of the unlock code in and on the next prompt you put the first 8 digits of the unlock code in, and that works (well, it did for me).
