Trying to unlock EE phone but the site will not work for me on EE

My dad has given me all his old EE phones to give to my children his grandchildren he went to an EE shop to unlock them they said they couldn't do it, now I know this is false and that they have to do it I told him this but being 92 he said he wasn't going back to ask again. I have put the IME code in on the EE site to get the unlock number but when I try and do the unlock the page is blank what sort of company has such a rubbish website. Never mind they have conned my father every single year into getting a new phone for God knows how many years for him to have so many unused phones I do not know. Now they are of no use unless my children get EE sims or go to 1p mobile which runs on EE network so works in the phone. Anybody got any ideas or should I just bin all five phones. Do you think if I go into one of their shops they will do this as I am not the original owner.

Thanks.

The EE shops do not directly have the training nor ability to unlock phones, so the information your dad was given is correct. This can only be done officially using the website tool or by calling over the phone if this fails. They simply have different levels of system and process access, but in most cases should provide some assistance in how to go about it even if they can't directly help themselves.

Yes of course EE as an entity have to assist to unlock the device, but someone working in a store without the means to do so cannot do this.

@Khashayar : Once you have got your unlock code from EE site, you insert non-EE SIM into phone & supply it with the unlock code you've been given. The EE unlock page should've gone on to instructions of this ilk but stupidly it has forgotten them.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Hi yeah I get as far as getting the code but when it says to follow the instructions it just ends up a blank page.

Thanks for your answer that is what they should have told him then not just said that we cannot do it it can't be done.

Agreed.

Isn't that what I just told you?
