Refurbished phone, fingerprint sensor not recognised

Hi,

I had my son's phone in for repair (google pixel 4a).

I received a refurbished phone rather than a repair.

Now he has the phone back there are no options to turn on the fingerprint sensor.

What are my options?

Have you tried factory reset the device? 

If it still doesn't work you'll need to speak to your insurers.
