RCS not working on EE

Hi, I can’t get RCS (chat features) to work on my phone with EE. The chat features status just shows [“Unavailable” / “Setting up…”].

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Restarted my phone

Updated Carrier Services

Cleared cache and data in the Messages app

Toggled chat features on/off

Tested on both Wi-Fi and mobile data

None of this has worked. Could someone confirm if this is an EE provisioning issue, or if there’s something else I need to do to get RCS working?

Thanks iadvance for any help

Hi @Abisub

Please try using Samsung Messages and activating the RCS service/Chat service.

@Abisub

Please check the correct mobile number is showing in the settings- go to settings > About phone > phone number.

Just to confirm, you have completed all the following steps to resolve an S25 Ultra RCS status stuck on "configuration,"-
Clear the cache and data for the Google Messages app and Carrier Services, restart your phone, then go to Messages settings and tap Retry on the RCS chats (Chat features) to verify your number again.

Clear Cache and Data

  1. Long-press: the Google Messages app icon on your home screen or app drawer.
  2. Tap the app info or I icon that appears.
  3. Tap on Storage.
  4. Tap Clear cache and then Clear data.
  5. Do the same for the Carrier Services app: go to Settings > Apps, find Carrier Services, and clear its cache and data.
  6. Restart: your S25 Ultra phone.

Retry RCS Chats

  1. Open the Google Messages app.
  2. Tap your profile picture or initials in the top right.
  3. Tap Messages settings, then select RCS chats or Chat features.
  4. Tap the Retry or Verify your number option to initiate the process again.

Following that try toggling Airplane Mode on, wait a minute, then disable it. Re-open Google Messages and check the RCS status.

If the above steps don't work, please give Customer Service a call where a guide in the Technical team will be able to look into this for you.
They may need to send a Network Message Update to your SIM card for the Messaging Service to detect your number correctly.

As a last resort, try disabling RCS chat features, leaving them off for several days (up to a week), and then re-enabling them to force a new verification process with the RCS server.
