I have just been in store to take a phone for repair, and was told that they don’t do loan phones even through boards in advertise it, also was told that it would take 14 days for repair how is this a rapid repair?

Hi @Skully2

Depends on what is needed as to if it is a quick repair.

Thanks

EE standard opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 9pm - Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 8pm.

Well why advertise 2hr repair slots, also why have boards in store that say “rapid repair + loan phones” if neither it occurring. Screams false advertising to me.

If the parts are available, it is the right type of repair, and a brand that they are approved to work on in the in-store repair centre then it can be done within the quoted timeslots. In the repair booking process, an estimate is generated and given by the Guide to the customer so they can decide whether they want to go ahead.

The variations in repair completion times can be because the device may need to be sent to a centralised repair centre approved to carry out that specific job, a backlog of other devices currently being repaired, or parts may need to be ordered to carry out the work.

With a Google Pixel 7 Pro specifically it may be a lead time on parts as the device is 2 model years old, with the current model being the Pixel 9 Pro. They only have so much room for storage of parts.

Which specific store did you visit? The timescales do vary between them. By means of illustration, several in my nearest city used to have a 2day turnaround, that's increased in the past year or so to 14days.

Loan phones have always been subject to availability. It may be worth you trying a different local store if the timescales are any better.

@Skully2   Don’t bother with loan phones just get yours a cheap phone that you can use any time you want.   it only has to make/receive calls and texts.    You can pick up a phone for less than £20

I don’t have £20 I’m skint now.

I visited one in Warrington

The Warrington store is listed as a 14 day repair on the EE Store Finder, and would not have claimed to be a participating store in the 2 hour repair service.

You can read more about the repair service here where the caveats are set out clearly as "The time to repair depends on parts and engineers being available" and that store would need to be a "participating store": https://ee.co.uk/local-repairs
