IMEI not recognised at EE for locked iPhone

Hi,  I have seen a lot of posts in this community where the IMEI number is not recognised by EE when requesting to unlock an iPhone.  Most of the resolutions are through private message, so the resolution isn't shared.

 

I bought a iPhone 8 Plus a few years ago for work from EE, and then upgraded to a new phone after the contract was completed.  Now I am trying to give the 8 plus to my son, with a new sim (not EE), and the phone says its locked and can't be used.

 

The carrier details in General/About say EE 49.0

 

But when I enter the IMEI number at EEs verification page, I receive an error message saying it isn't recognised by EE.

 

Hope can I get this resolved?
