So when I go abroad and the hotel has free WiFi will I be charged for facetime call to my son at home

As long as you turn off data roaming and use the free wifi, EE will not charge you for facetime or other wifi use.

Use of any WiFi anywhere in the world is not EE's concern. You aren't using its mobile network. You might, of course, be asked to use someone else's WiFi but you would have to sign up for that (or added to your hotel bill).
