Android Phone does not receive updates from EE

Hello

I bought a used Samsung S24+ from Amazon a few months ago, but it is not receiving updates from EE and the last security patch was over a year ago.

I did a factory reset with the SIM card in the phone but this has not helped. I've bought several phones over the years and never had a problem before.

Any suggestions please?

@Vonsworld the updates are pushed out from Samsung not EE.   The device has nothing to do with EE

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Thanks for your reply.

On other sites it says that Samsung gives updates to the mobile phone companies for testing and then they push them out to their customers. Is this not the case with EE?

I have tried updating the phone directly from Samsung by connecting it to a PC using Smart Switch but that didn't work either.

Years ago that was partly correct, operators liked to insist on their own firmware which slowed down updates, but not a lot of that goes on nowadays.  I'd try posting on the Samsung forums, ask there, mention the CSC, you'll probably get a better answer? Or ask Samsung?

Check the variant of your device's software, I suspect it's running the BTU (generic) version and if so - this is totally outwith EE's control and entirely within Samsung's remit. There's also a possibility that Amazon have supplied you with an EU-variant which could complicate this.

If you're running EVR (EE) firmware, then (as I understand) Samsung push the SW out but EE hold the trigger. Similar applies to all UK operators.

Hi @Vonsworld

Under the software information what baseband are you running.

When you purchased from Amazon was it new or refurbished, it may not even be an S24+ but let's hope it is not fake.

Thanks
