5G Standalone on non-UK Samsung Phones

I've recently joined EE on a plan with 5G Standalone included. I found out that my phone never connects to 5G SA on my Samsung S25 bought from Hong Kong, it's always on NSA only. (But my model seems to have all the bands supported) Is there any hope that my phone will ever get EE 5G SA or I'll just have to upgrade to a UK model to benefit from it? Thanks.

Hi @LoohpJames,

Welcome to the Community!

We are currently working on the roll out of 5G Standalone, but this is not currently available across the UK. Have you checked that this is available in your area?

Rach

Yes, I am in London and my postcode does show that there is 5G SA in the area. I've also walked around Central London just to be sure it wasn't because of where I was. I called support and they do confirm that my plan and sim supports 5G Standalone. However, the option to enable 5G Standalone (and VoNR) just isn't available on my S25's settings.

That's why I suspect it could be the region of my phone. I really hope there's some way I can take advantage of what's included in my plan.

Tho I looked up online and it does says that the Hong Kong model should have all but 1 of the bands.

There isn't a setting for it on Samsung devices, it will just connect if available and show "Vo5G" at the top instead of VoLTE. Is it that you're not seeing this?

I usually check in Settings > About phone > Status Information > SIM card Status. But yea, on the status bar it is always VoLTE. I've never seen VoNR.
