Weird code at top of screen - TNT Sports on EE TV app (Apple TV)

Is there any way to get rid of the numbers that show at the top when watching TNT sports one via the EE TV app on an Apple TV from EE?

I've hidden the last few digits in case they're personally identifying, but this is quite distracting!

Hi @norwoody

It is an anti piracy code I think.

Interestingly I have the discovery plus app (on my TCL TV)  as part of my mobile contract and that number is not on my screen as I am also watching the game.  You see it on pub TV's a lot.

Pirates maybe prefer EE TV 😂

Thanks

Yeah, I think you're right - I left it on for a bit longer and the code seems to disappear for a while before it comes back. I just switched over to the Discovery+ app on the Apple TV instead and no code *shrug*.

Just a bit odd - I'd expect something like that in pubs etc, but not at home!

@norwoody

When the broadcaster detects a pirated signal, probably via a ‘scout’ out in a pub with no beer mugs on their display, they cause each device receiving the programme to display a unique code. Then they look at the pirated signal to see what code is being shown, and from that, they can work back to the legitimate device that is feeding it, in order to take further action.

It’s no good just turning this on for pubs, as one of these is probably where the pirated signal has been detected, and it is most probably a ‘legitimate’ domestic user at source 😛
