Ah sorry, I've just checked the web site with a Now TV subscription and it only allows purchase of TNT Sports. That's no use, obviously.

The only suggestion I can make is that you ask Now TV what options they have.

@CT71  Open the EE app click Manage click TV and Sport scroll down and click Get Extras and choose.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

BT/EE do not sell HBO Max - only TNT Sport.

If you have an EE TV package which includes entertainment then you can claim your HBO Max basic with ads package through Now TV.

To then upgrade to a higher tier, you need to sign into hbomax.com with your existing login, and check the packages page, where you'll find an option to add packages.

I've done that but it says it can't be done and I have to contact my TV provider

I think the issue is that if you have simultaneously:

  1. TNT Sports via an EE subscription; and
  2. The basic tier of HBO Max via Now

It won't allow you to upgrade the latter to the full subscription. It may well also be the case if 1 doesn't apply [I have it hence including it here, but it is probably the same if you don't have TNT Sports].

Sky does allow the upgrade for Sky Q / Sky Stream subscribers as far as I am aware, but Now currently doesn't.

The only real answers are either

  1. to press Now to allow the upgrade [not likely in the short term, but given they do it with Sky possible];
  2. to delink the subscription from Now. It would mean paying for the basic tier in addition to the upgrade; or
  3. watch most of the content via Now.
