Only had our service a month or so, TV box pro hard wired to ethernet on our 60 meg connection. Have notice that when recording one channel (via IP - no aerial connected) trying to watch a 2nd channel is impossible. The picture is totally broken up and sound just occasionally cuts in. I cannot see any options in the box settings to check signal (internet) strength but get a good reading from Fast.com from PC downstream of this box.
Having come from Sky its kind of disappointing to only be able to watch or record but not both. Have been reading else where regarding the TV mini box that i "believed" would record (it doesn't have since established) and now looking into a second pro box to circumvent that issue to allow recordings in the bedroom.
Would appreciate any input to recording issues or recommendations of recordable box suppliers to make my wife happier in the bedroom .
Regards,
Phil

Recording an HD stream is reckoned to consume about 5 Mbps.So you should be able to watch one stream and record another quite comfortably with 60 Mbps.
With the box hardwired, internet strength, which is a WiFi consideration, doesn’t come into it.
See what Fast.com is showing, first without a recording going on, and then while one is being made, and report back.
There is no reason to suppose that any other recording device would do better, except that by using an aerial, they would not be consuming internet bandwidth for the incoming signal. And if you are in a position to do that, then you are in a position to do that with the Box Pro by switching to aerial mode.
Other than that, it is difficult for me to recommend any other positions or devices that would make your wife happier in the bedroom…

OK cheers, will give that it a go , recording and rechecking Internet speed downstream. The recommendation for alternate pro box was to allow recordings in the bedroom replacing mini box which does not offer that function.

So wifey had same issue again this morning but was recording ITV3 on HD at same time (was not around to verify).
Since then have recorded 2 different channels an also watched a 3rd on stream and fast.com still showing steady 57meg. . Have also recorded HD BT sport and also recording ITV2 and was still showing 55 meg on upstream PC. Therefore can only assume that it is not an internet bottleneck albeit it deffo happens, really need to establish the issue as / when it next occurs.
Will be adding an aerial very soon as dog chewed up last one (didn't really need it with Sly) and hopefully that will hep with 2 channel limit in the long term.

Phil

OK, so it’s not a bandwidth issue; you need to call EETV and get them to sort out what’s going on here.
EETV won’t supply you with a further Box Pro, but these, and the DTR-T4000, the best of the earlier YouView boxes and compatible with EETV, though it hasn’t got WiFi and needs to be hardwired*, can be found on eBay, or at CeX if you want a guarantee.
*There’s a way to get round hardwiring by using a nanorouter, though I don’t know if it plays nice with the multicast that EETV use.

I have since fitted aerial and reset box with new channels. Then i deliberately downloaded 6 large files on pc, recorded HD TNT sports and could also watch another. At this point fast recording Internet speed around 6 Meg but all worked fine. Will continue to play to work out when & why the issue occurs, but hopefully adding the aerial has moved us in the right direction.
Many thanks for your input.

Phil
